Woody
Sandalwood
Oil distilled from the heartwood of sandalwood trees (Santalum album, Santalum spicatum). Creamy, soft and milky-woody, and very long-lasting. Indian sandalwood became scarce through overharvesting, so modern perfumes often use Australian oil or sandalwood-like molecules.
Origin Classic “Mysore” sandalwood comes from southern India; Australia is now a major source.
